The Gems Laboratory
With an aim to protect consumer rights and promote gemmology, Hong Kong Gems Laboratory was established in 1987.
The laboratory participated in many international conferences and was well-recognized by gem professionals.
Jadeite jade, diamond, ruby and sapphire, emerald and other gem stones are all covered in our identification services.
Besides providing services to consumers and jewelleries, we also work with Hong Kong Police, Consumer Council and
auction firms. Partner jewelleries and students of Hong Kong Institute of Gemmology have discount offers.
Prof. Mimi Ou Yang, founder of Hong Kong Gems Laboratory, and assistants are very experienced in geology and gemmology.
Apart from basic professinal instrument, HKGEMS also has advanced technologies.
For example, FTIR spectrophotometer, which provides evidence for jadeite jade, was first introduced in Hong Kong by HKGEMS.
Moreover, HKGEMS has close connection with laboratories and research institutes in mainland China
and keeps track of update information.
