- Diamond pipeline and valuation factors
- Synthetic gem-quality diamond
- Diamond simulants and their recognition
- Practical Diamond Grading
This self-contained practical Certificated course and examination is ideal for those who need a basic diamond practical qualification in a relatively short time. The aim of this practical is to provide effective guidance in the assessment of quality for gem diamond and the essential skills of detecting simulants and treated stones. Details include:- Clarity Grading using a 10X loupe
- Colour grading with emphasis being placed on eye grading
- Aspects of cut including symmetry and proportions
- Differentiating diamond from its simulants
- Clarity treatments including fracture filling and laser drilling
- Description of rough crystals
Tuition will place with greatest emphasis on readily available means: the eye, the 10X loupe, a grading card and a daylight-equivalent light.
Students successful in passing the examination will be awarded the new Diamond Practical Examination Certificate. The certificate examination is same as the Diamond Diploma practical examination.¡C
